Join The Henry Ford for an intimate evening of Frost’s work and his influence on modern poetry and literature.
A Literary Feast: An Evening of Frost & Food will feature the works of and readings by award-winning poet Vievee Francis and author Paul Dimond set against the beautiful backdrops of the Robert Frost home and Eagle Tavern in Greenfield Village. Guests will enjoy cocktails and light refreshments at the Frost home where the famed poet wrote “Spring Pools” among other works and listen to Ms. Francis read from her work and the works of Frost.
Guests will then take a Model T or Horse-drawn carriage to Eagle Tavern for a dinner of locally-sourced fare from Michigan farms and food purveyors. After dinner, Paul Dimond will give a presentation on his newly published historical novel, The Belle of Two Arbors and talk about Robert Frost’s time in Michigan in the spring of 1926. In addition, he and his co-author and poet Martha Buhr Grimes will read Frost poems from this time.
During dessert, Christian Overland, Executive Vice President for The Henry Ford will lead a panel discussion with Ms. Francis and Mr. Dimond on how to make Robert Frost House a living center for American literary creativity going forward.

Vievee Francis is the author of three books of poetry: Blue-Tail Fly (Wayne State University Press, 2006), Horse in the Dark (winner of the Cave Canem Northwestern University Poetry Prize for a second collection, Northwestern University Press, 2016) and Forest Primeval (winner of the Hurston Wright Legacy Award and the 2017 Kingsley-Tufts Poetry Award). Her work has appeared in numerous print and online journals, textbooks, and anthologies, including Poetry, Best American Poetry 2010, 2014, 2017, and Angles of Ascent: A Norton Anthology of Contemporary African American Poetry. She has been a participant in the Cave Canem Workshops, a Poet-in-Residence for the Alice Lloyd Scholars Program at the University of Michigan, and teaches poetry writing in the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop (USA, UK, and Barbados). In 2009 she received a Rona Jaffe Writer’s Award, and in 2010, a Kresge Fellowship. She serves as an associate editor of Callaloo and an associate professor of English (creative writing) at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
Paul Dimond grew up in Ann Arbor with one foot between Town and Gown and the other in Glen Arbor exploring northern Michigan’s Sleeping Bear Dunes. At Amherst College he majored in history researching original sources. He returned to Michigan Law School where he began his study of the Civil War Amendments. Paul is the author of numerous articles and three books on policy, law and history, including Beyond Busing, winner of the Ralph J. Bunche Book of the Year Award (1986), with a new afterword for a 20th anniversary reprinting in paperback. Dissatisfied with any of the endings, he turned to fiction. His first novel, North Coast Almanac for “tweeners” was published in 2012. Upcoming works include a political thriller, Succession at the White House, and a journey love story, Widower’s Song. After nearly a decade of research and drafting, his historical novel, The Belle of Two Arbors, 1913-1953, was published in March 2017.
